The ship model towing tank laboratory is a base for teaching and experimental research of fluid mechanics in naval architecture and ocean engineering. The tank is a formal member of the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC). It is domestically advanced in the aspects of major hardware, data acquisition and processing, and extension of functionality. In addition to the towing tank and the carrier, the laboratory is also equipped with up-to-date apparatuses and instruments such as wave maker, 4-DOF seakeeping test apparatus, data acquisition system, dynamometer, 2D and 3D PIV test systems. The lab is capable of carrying out a wide range of experimental studies of ship fluid mechanics and performance.
