2. Training target

Master's degree in marine and ocean engineering is a professional degree linked with the qualification of serving in the field of marine and ocean engineering, focusing on engineering application, mainly for the construction or research departments of marine and ocean engineering, especially for the state-owned large and medium-sized enterprises related to marine and ocean engineering to cultivate applied and compound high-level engineering technology and engineering management talents. The cultivated Master of Engineering should have the following abilities:

1. Master Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory; support the Party's basic line, policies and guidelines; love the motherland, abide by the law, have good professional ethics and entrepreneurial spirit, and actively serve China's economic construction and social development.

2. Master the solid basic theories and broad expertise in the field of ship and ocean engineering; master the advanced technical methods and modern technical means to solve engineering problems; have a sense of innovation and the ability to independently undertake engineering technology or engineering management.

4. Period of schooling

The academic term for full-time engineering master's degree students is 2 years. Generally, it takes 0.75 academic year to complete the course study, and all credits should be completed before the defense of the dissertation, and the maximum study period is 4 years.

5. Training modalities

A dual tutorial system is implemented, with on-campus tutors as the main guidance and off-campus tutors involved in various aspects of the practical process, project research, courses and dissertations. Experts and scholars from different disciplines and engineering fields and professionals with rich experience in the practice field are hired to jointly undertake the cultivation of postgraduate students.

6. Curriculum and Credit Requirements

1. Curriculum

The curriculum is oriented to practical application, aimed at professional demand, with the improvement of comprehensive literacy and applied knowledge and ability as the core, according to the requirements of the industry and vocational field on the knowledge and ability of professional degree students, building a scientific and reasonable course structure, focusing on the cultivation of practical application ability, contacting with broad cutting-edge knowledge, and focusing on highlighting the courses of professional practice class and engineering practice class, to design, process flow, enterprise management, etc., focusing on the cultivation of application-oriented talents.

Students enrolled in the interdisciplinary status shall take 2-3 major courses of the undergraduate program, which shall be passed by examination, but not counted in the total credits of the master's degree.

2. Teaching content

Focus on the organic combination of theoretical and applied courses, case analysis and practical research; focus on practical research and innovation ability, improve professionalism and engineering practice ability. Among them, relatively proficient in reading foreign language materials in this field; mastering mathematical methods for solving practical engineering problems; professional courses should emphasize the study and practice of new technologies, methods and processes in this field.

3. Credit Requirements

The cultivation program for full-time professional degree postgraduates consists of Session A and Session B. Session A consists of theoretical courses and students are required to complete no less than 20 credits of theoretical courses. Session B is a comprehensive session, which consists of five sessions, including experimental courses, literature review reports, academic activities, engineering practice and lectures on new technologies. Full-time professional degree students must complete the credits of Session A and pass the assessment of Session B when they submit the defense application.

7. Practical Teaching Session Requirements

1. Literature Review Report

After entering the master's program, the students shall start to read the domestic and foreign literature in this field under the guidance of their supervisors, with a total of not less than 30 articles, of which not less than 15 articles are in foreign languages, and complete a literature review report of not less than 4000 words in the second semester.

The literature review report should reflect the current status and level of domestic and foreign research in this field, the problems to be further studied, the significance of the purpose of the research and the application prospects. The literature review report will be evaluated by the supervisory team and will be awarded with corresponding credits after passing the report.

2. Academic activities

(1) Master's degree students must participate in one academic activity organized by the school and the college during their study period, and submit a summary report indicating the time, place, reporter, title of the academic report, briefly describing the content and elucidating their own academic viewpoints and opinions on the related academic activities, which shall be signed by the supervisor and submitted to the Academic Affairs Office of the college for record.

(2) Academic Ethics Education. Graduate supervisors are required to provide academic ethics education and academic standard training to graduate students in the process of graduate training and make clear requirements for graduate students; in addition, graduate students should also participate in lectures on academic ethics and academic standards organized by the university and the academy. Graduate students shall write a study report or experience of not less than 800 words, which shall be reviewed and approved by the supervisor and submitted to the faculty for record. During the study period, graduate students shall pay attention to cultivating and improving their academic ethics, abide by the basic norms of academic research, and consciously resist academic misconduct.

Academic activities and their assessment shall be completed before the defense of graduate students' dissertations.

3. Engineering practice

A combination of centralized practice and segmented practice is adopted, but the total practice time is not less than one year. Students should submit the engineering practice plan, agreed by the instructor, submitted to the college for review and approval. The specific content of engineering practice is determined by the on-campus tutor and the enterprise tutor, and the students shall submit the practice report after the engineering practice, and the corresponding credits will be given through the examination.

8. Practical Teaching Session Requirements

1. Basic requirements for the dissertation:

The selected topic of the dissertation shall be derived from applied topics or real problems, and must have a clear professional background and applied value. The dissertation shall be completed independently and shall reflect the ability of graduate students to comprehensively apply scientific theories, methods and technologies to solve practical problems.

The dissertation reviewers and members of the defense committee shall be experts with senior professional and technical positions in the engineering fields of related industries.

2. The specific rules of the dissertation writing, evaluation and defense shall be detailed in the relevant documents of the university for the management of engineering master's degree.

3. After the full-time engineering master degree students have completed the study period, completed the credits stipulated in the cultivation program, passed the grades, completed the dissertation and other stipulated cultivation links, passed the dissertation defense, and passed the deliberation of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the university, they will be issued with the certificate of graduation of the master degree students and conferred with the professional degree of master of engineering.

This engineering field is mainly oriented to the water conservancy industry and related engineering departments to cultivate applied and compound high-level engineering technology and engineering management talents with solid foundation, comprehensive quality, strong engineering practice ability, and certain innovation ability. Specific requirements are:

1. support the basic line and policies of the Party, love the motherland, abide by the law; to have good professional ethics and dedication, as well as scientific and rigorous, pragmatic learning attitude and work style, physical and mental health.

2. understand the hot spots and dynamics of the field, and have the ability of independent learning and lifelong learning.

3. master the basic theories, advanced technical methods and modern technical means in the field of water conservancy engineering. Have the ability to independently conduct analysis and integration, research and development, management and decision-making in a certain direction of this field. The full-time Master of Engineering degree program is a two-year program. The curriculum is normally completed in 0.75 academic year and all credits should be completed before the defense of the dissertation.

5. Training modalities

Dual tutor system is adopted, in which the on-campus tutor and the supervisor of the off-campus internship unit jointly supervise the graduate students of Master of Engineering. The on-campus supervisor is the main supervisor, and the off-campus supervisor participates in the supervision of practice process, project research, courses and thesis.
