1. Laboratory Introduction

 Fundamental Mechanics Laboratory is affiliated to the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Ship and Ocean Engineering, which consists of Structural Mechanics Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics Laboratory and Comprehensive Laboratory. The laboratory consists of 3 experimental facilities of fundamental fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, and port, waterway and coastal engineering mechanics, focusing on cultivating students to master the basic knowledge, basic methods and skills of experimentation in naval architecture and ocean engineering, port, waterway and coastal engineering, and improving students' ability to discover, analyze and solve problems.

2. Experimental capability

The laboratory undertakes the fundamental courses of naval architecture and ocean engineering and port, waterway and coastal engineering mechanics as well as the basic experimental teaching. The experiments include: basic experiments of fluid mechanics, structural mechanics of ship and ocean engineering, thematic experimental research of ship structure, experimental technology of modern ship structure, experiments of soil mechanics and other experimental courses, with a total of 74 experimental projects and 208 credit hours. Among them, the fundamental fluid mechanics facility is open to the whole university, involving majors such as naval architecture and ocean engineering, harbor channel and coastal engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, engineering mechanics, aircraft design and engineering, thermal energy and power engineering, nuclear engineering and nuclear technology and so on.
