The Central Committee of CPC, and State Council held solemnly in Beijing, the Conference of National Science and Technology Awards, the party and State Leaders Xi J.P., Li K.Q., Wang H.N., Han Z et all were present. Xi gave the prizes to the awarded, and on behalf of State Council, Li K.Q. made a congratulation speech, Han Z. presided the conference.

A project taken charge by this college obtained the 2nd-rank award of National Sci. and Tech. Prize. As reported, the awarded totaled 285 items (or persons), wherein, two persons got the Highest Sci. and Tech. prizes, there were 38 National Science Awards, 67 National Technical Invention Awards, and 173 National Sci.&Tech. Progress Awards, 5 persons got P.R.C. International Sci.&Tech. Cooperation Prizes.
