The Third Session of "Tanhai Classroom" - Diversified Cultivation of Shipbuilding Talents to Promote the Construction of a Maritime Power


To help students understand the latest development trends and current situation in the shipbuilding industry, as well as learn about the growth experiences of outstanding researchers in the marine science field, the School of Shipbuilding Engineering at Harbin Engineering University, relying on the Ministry of Education's Virtual Teaching Research Room for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, has specially launched a series of lectures called "Ocean Exploration Classroom". The Virtual Teaching Research Room for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering was established in 2022 under the leadership of Harbin Engineering University, with participating institutions including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Dalian University of Technology, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., Science Press, and other universities and research institutes.



On the morning of December 3rd, the college had the honor of inviting Junli Wang, Secretary-General of the China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and member of the Science and Technology Committee of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, as the keynote speaker for the third session of the "Tanhai Classroom". Lei Liu, Director of the Department of Science Popularization of the China Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Ye Li, Secretary of Party Committee of the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, Baoyu Ni, Dean of the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, Chao Wang, Deputy Secretary of CPC, Shili Sun, Vice Dean, and more than 260 teachers and students participated in this event. The virtual teaching research room conducted live streaming online simultaneously.


Junli Wang shared insights into the development of China's shipbuilding industry based on his personal experiences and profoundly analyzed the uniqueness and advantages of China's shipbuilding industry driven by technological advancements. He presented an outlook on future green and intelligent technologies leading industrial innovation and pointed out the challenges faced by China's maritime industry. Following this, he introduced the talent cultivation system and career paths within the shipbuilding industry, providing guidance and expressing expectations for the students' future development.


During the interactive exchange session, Junli Wang answered questions from students regarding the prospects of ocean wave energy and analyzed the potential and direction of unmanned vessels, offering suggestions for the students' future development. The lively discussions allowed the students to gain a clearer and deeper understanding of the current state and future prospects of the industry.
