This institution is the academic mainstay of Harbin Engineering University in the Hydromechanics of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, making remarkable contributions to the talents cultivation and scientific researches. It undertakes the teaching of elementary courses and professional basic courses, such as Hydromechanics of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Principles of Naval Architecture and have cultivated 110 postgraduate students in 5 years. It also undertakes subjects in scientific researches, such asthe major projects of Natural Science Foundation of China, the national special projects of international cooperation, National Defense Basic Scientific Researches, the 973 Projects of National Defense, and so forth, having over 50 million yuan of research expenditure, and having published over forty academic theses on periodicals like JFM, JCP, AOR, OE and so forth, winning the second award of the Prize for Technological Progress of National Defense twice jointly. All the teachers in the team have doctor degree, and one professor is authorized as the special-term professor of the Yangtze River Scholar.
