The Institute of General Technology for Ships and Marine Platforms

The Institute of General Technology for Ships and Marine Platforms is comprised of the team of General technology for ships and platforms and the team of Design and Manufacture of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. The institute has 25 faculty members including 5 full professors, 11 associate professor and 9 lecturers.

In recent years, more than 188 graduate students graduated from the institute, which include 167 masters and 21 Ph.Ds. Four graduate students have been supported for studying in USA, England and Finland. Seven faculties have been supported for oversea research exchanges in Russia, USA, Germany, England, Netherland and Singapore.

The institute has been awarded 3 national and 6 provincial teaching achievement rewards. Students from the institute have participated in 19 national innovation competitions and won 30 awards. The institute has published 6 teaching reform papers and 6 textbooks.

The institute has finished 76 scientific research projects which include:

Multi-functional manned submersible technology research, through which the technologies of long-range detection and pose measurement, high-precision dynamic positioning under heavy sea, butt joint with large heeling were developed.

Docking technology of autonomous submersibles, through which the technologies of navigation, control and ultimately accurate entry into the predetermined sea area of underwater recovery devices were developed.

Serialization ship maneuvering simulator, through which the key technologies for six degrees of freedom mathematical model and real-time motion simulation, visualization of real-time simulation and the marine environment, multiple resolution modeling and real-time dynamic rendering, man-machine interactive 3D simulation and mass simulation database/model library core technology such as design and real-time scheduling were developed.

The design and application for cabin environment improvement of 80 kn triple-hulled high-speed boat and air cushion test catamaran ship were highly recognized by the industrial companies.

Research on the verification of the general simulation and evaluation of ships, through which a typical database of large surface ships both in domestic and abroad and an evaluation index system of the general performance simulation and verification had been established. The main parameters, general arrangement, a large surface ships navigation performance, aircraft moving and recycling abilities, ship surface dispatching simulation evaluation methods was formed. Completing a large surface ships overall performance comprehensive evaluation system of the platform, and providing a technical support for the future of domestic ship overall performance comprehensive evaluation.

The institute has four provincial science and technology progress awards, 82 published technical papers, 27 patents and software copyrights and a total research funding of 150 million Yuan.
