International Joint Research Center for Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Mechanics

The center was recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2014. The major partners of the center includs 14 internationally renowned universities in the field of Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Mechanics, name a few, University of California Berkeley, University of Southampton, St. Petersburg State University of Ocean Technology in Russia, and 4 international maritime research and certification institutions such as the Bureau Veritas. The center aims to develop in-depth cooperation in high-level talent training, scientific research, and academic exchanges.

The team of experts of the center includes Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars, fellow of the American Academy of Engineering, Professor William C Webster from University of California Berkeley, as well as the fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences, Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the American Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor William C Webster from University of California Berkeley, as well as the fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences, Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the American Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Odd Magnus Faltinsen of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and other academic masters.

The center focuses on two research fields in shipbuilding and ocean engineering, the hydrodynamics and structural mechanics. In the following technologies, she is the leading center in the country, representing the art of the state of the techniques, including the numerical tank technology, key technologies of polar navigation vessels, theoretical research on ship motion and marine hydrodynamics, ship structure fatigue strength assessment, key technology of contact damage behavior of hull structure, underwater explosion bubble dynamics, high-speed trimaran R&D and basic design technology, and research on key technologies of polar navigation vessels, theoretical research on ship motion and marine hydrodynamics, ship structure fatigue strength assessment, key technology of contact damage behavior of hull structure, underwater explosion bubble dynamics, high-speed trimaran R&D and basic design technology, and research on key technologies of new multi-hull ships.
