In 2017, Professor Zhang Liang of thiscollege, as the Chinese host, and Dr. Maurizio Collu of the University of Cranfield in the United Kingdom, as the British host, jointly declared the project of Key Issues Research on Offshore Floating Integrated Multipurpose Platform, which won the award of the key international cooperation project of the Natural Fund. From September 22nd to 26th, the first meeting on the project was held in this university.

The innovative design of offshore floating integrated multi-purpose platform is a key project of China-UK cooperation between the National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) and the British Council for Engineering and Natural Sciences (EPSRC). It aims to design an open ocean platform system with a set of ocean wind-wave power generation system, seawater desalination-energy storage-aquaculture production system and intelligent management. It will lay a scientific and technological foundation for developing a new generation of marine low-carbon industrial equipment, improving the system efficiency of marine natural resources acquisition and aquaculture, and reducing costs.
