The Ministry of Education conducted Selection and Commendation ofAdvanced Collectives and Individuals of 2019 inthe National Education System, and Prof. Su Yumin from the College of Shipbuilding Engineering won the “National Outstanding Teacher” award.

Since 1984, Prof. Su Yumin has been working in the field of teaching and researchover the past35 years. He has always devoted himself to teaching with full enthusiasm. In recent years, he has undertaken 11 undergraduate courses and many other courses forpostgraduates and international students, and has cultivated more than 50 doctoral andpostgraduate students. He has led his team to build a modular and characteristic curriculum system for the ship and marine engineering major withthe most comprehensive curriculum system,the most well-structured teachingfaculty, and thelargest number of high-leveltalents cultivatedin the world, which is the first of its kind in China, and which contributes greatly to the constructionof the ocean robot major.

As asummary of his long-term talent training practices and experience, the projectentitled“Building ‘One Body with Two Auxiliaries and Two Driving Forces’ Talent Training System, and Training First-class Engineering Talents in the Field of Marine and Marine Engineering” won the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement;one of his undergraduate course “The Dancing Elf Underwater---Marine Carrier” was selected as the National Video Public Course;hisco-edited textbookPrinciples of Submarine, whichwon the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Outstanding Book Award, was selected as the “Tenth-Five-Year Plan” textbook and the“Twelfth-Five-Year” National Excellent Book. This textbook hasprovided important references to the popularization of the industry and relevant basic theoretical knowledge.

Relying on the scientific spirit of“sit still, drill hard, and research in-depth”, Prof. Su Yumin’s teamreached the peak of scientific research and smashed pieces of“hard bones” in their field. He hasdirected more than 20 scientific research projects: the973 Project,the863 Project,and some other research programs of theNSFC; He stands out with a number of leading domestic technology items andmany of his research resultshave beenwidely used and applied;he haspublished more than 140academicpapers,hasedited andauthored 2monographs;he hasobtained the National Defense Science and Technology Invention Award, the National Defense Science and Technology Award, the Military Science and Technology Progress Award, the Provincial Natural Science Award, and many other provincial and ministerial awards.In addition, hehaswon the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Excellent Book Award and the Outstanding Book Award ofHeilongjiang Province. His team was elected as“Defense Technology Innovation Team”.
