Fundedby EU Horizon 2020 Project and Key Research and Development Plan of Ministry of Science and Technology, professors Xue Yanzhuo and NiBaoyu went sailing to the arctic as the ship scientists on July 18th,2018. They sailed with “Tianyoulun”, a new ship of COSCO Marine Special Transportation Co. LTD. The two professors’ main taskswere to install instruments, collect data of ice, observe the ice-breaking process and check the calculation methods, and so on.

After Professor Xue Yanzhuo and Ni Baoyu returned, they shared what they haveexperienced.They said, “The journey is over, but every bit of the journey hasbecome our precious memories. In the journey, we cross the Bering Strait-the throat of Asian-American continents and see the ice pack which islike the mirage. We have gone through the tough times, being trappedin the ice, and still feltexcited when our national flagwasrising at the highest Vertex of north latitude. What makes us feel unforgettable is that all crews take the bull by the horns, explore maritime territory and show their spirits of duty in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.”
